Donald L. Brooks’ new play, the title of which is the infinity symbol, opens tonight at St. Peter’s Church, 346 W. 20t St. Actually, it’s seven plays -- at once. Happening
simultaneously in the space will be the following: Harvey Fierstein as a magician in “The Seven Cardinal Virtues,” directed by Harvey Tavel; Bill Maloney in “The Seven Ages
of Man,” a tragedy directed by Brooks; mime Rocky Shook in “The Seven Deadly Sins,” directed by Maurice Edwards; dancer Carolyn Mitchell in “The Dance of the Seven
Veils,” directed by Edwards; Ronald Tavel as an artist/painter in “The Seven Seals,” directed by Brooks; a chorus of seven in “The Seven Seas,” directed by Edwards, Brooks
and Harvey Tavel; and “The Seven Wonders of the World” (starring a puppet), directed by Harvey Tavel. Brooks, Jon Jon and Leo Rice did the sets, and George Prideaux
composed the score. The text, by Brooks, is selected from the writings of (to give a random selection from a list of fifty) Aeschylus, Black Elk, Chester, Christopher Columbus,
Confucius, The Egyptian Hieroglyphics, Amerigo Vespucci, Lewis Carroll, Benjamin Disraeli, Adolph Hitler, Homer, Emma Lazarus, Gen. Sheridan, Teddy Roosevelt and
Santayana. No wonder he has to have seven plays going at once, just to get it all in. Robb Baker, The SoHo Weekly News, May 16, 1974
